🇨🇦 Flight delays in Canada

22 graded routes · 0 airports · March 2025 – August 2026

Where these figures come from

Canada’s own regulator does not publish punctuality data

These figures come from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, which reports every flight at its own end of the route — whichever airline operates it. So this is not a picture of all air travel in Canada — domestic flights within Canada, and its routes to countries that publish nothing, are absent.

What the record shows

On Canada routes the airlines separate clearly: Virgin Atlantic arrived on time 7.3 points more often than Air Transat. Both fly the same corridors into the same airports, so the difference is in how each is run rather than where each flies.

Because these flights are counted at the other end of the route, the picture is partial by construction. Domestic flying inside Canada does not appear, and neither do its routes to countries that publish nothing. What is here is accurate; it is simply not everything.

Common questions

Which airline is most punctual on Canada routes?

Virgin Atlantic, at 78.6% on time across 762 flights on those routes. The least punctual was Air Transat at 71.3%.

Does Canada publish flight delay data?

No. Canada publishes no punctuality data of its own. The figures here come from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, which reports every flight at its own end of the route — so domestic flying inside Canada is not covered.

Can I claim compensation for a delayed flight from Canada?

There is no statutory compensation scheme for flights departing Canada. A cancellation normally entitles you to a refund under the airline's own conditions of carriage, and European rules may still reach your flight if the journey ends in the EU or UK on a European carrier.
