🇮🇹 Flight delays in Italy
212 graded routes · 0 airports · March 2025 – August 2026
Where these figures come from
Italy’s own regulator does not publish punctuality data
These figures come from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, which reports every flight at its own end of the route — whichever airline operates it. So this is not a picture of all air travel in Italy — domestic flights within Italy, and its routes to countries that publish nothing, are absent.
What the record shows
On Italy routes the airlines separate clearly: British Airways arrived on time 16.4 points more often than TUI Airways. Both fly the same corridors into the same airports, so the difference is in how each is run rather than where each flies.
Because these flights are counted at the other end of the route, the picture is partial by construction. Domestic flying inside Italy does not appear, and neither do its routes to countries that publish nothing. What is here is accurate; it is simply not everything.

Common questions
Which airline is most punctual on Italy routes?
British Airways, at 76.2% on time across 30,357 flights on those routes. The least punctual was TUI Airways at 59.8%.
Does Italy publish flight delay data?
No. Italy publishes no punctuality data of its own. The figures here come from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, which reports every flight at its own end of the route — so domestic flying inside Italy is not covered.
Can I claim compensation for a delayed flight from Italy?
Yes. Italy is covered by EC 261, so a flight departing it — on any airline — can be worth roughly €250 to €600 after an arrival delay of three hours or more, unless the cause was an extraordinary circumstance such as severe weather.
